Top Ten Tuesday | Books I Loved but Will Never Re-Read

Top Ten Tuesday @ That Artsy Reader Girl

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme currently hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.

Today's topic was submitted by Brandyn at Going for Goldilocks.

I'm starting things off by confessing that I am not a fan of re-reading books in general. There are books which I loved with all my heart but even given the best of circumstances I would never *ever* reread, mostly out of fear of not enjoying them as much the second time around. I want to preserve that fuzzy warm feeling I got when I first discovered them and make it last forever and ever and ever... Is it so bad though?! 🤔
Some people love revisiting old favourites and swear by it. I, on the other hand, would much faster reread a book I didn't like the first time around just to prove to myself that my first assessment was right. Perhaps one day I'll talk more in depth about my issues with rereading but, overall, it all comes down to the fact that I can't help feeling as if I'm wasting time when there are so many new books out there, and many more being release each week, waiting for me to pick them up.
But alas, I won't take more of your time today.
Without further ado, here are the top ten books I loved but would never reread:
The Martian by Andy Weir | Highly Illogical Behavior by John Corey Waley | Crimson Peak by Nancy Holder
Hotel Ruby by Suzanne Young | All the Bright Places by Jenniver Niven | The Bees by Laline Paul | 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher
Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu | Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell | The Fault in Our Stars by John Green
Do you enjoy rereading books?
Is there a book you wouldn't reread? Why?

First Chapter, First Paragraph, Tuesday Intros is a weekly meme hosted by Vicki at I Would Rather Be at the Beah.

Share the first paragraph (or two) of the book you're currently reading or planning to read next.
"Don't expect this to be the kind of story that goes: and then, and then, and then.
What happens here will have more of that fashion magazine feel, a Vogue or Glamour magazine chaos with page numbers on every second or fifth or third page."

You are invited to answer one of the prompts as well as the random question of the week.

Up Next I Think I'll Read...

The Wicked Deep - Shea Ernshaw
The Wicked Deep
by Shea Ernshaw

Everyone I know is raving about this book lately. Fortunately for me, with my incurable aversion to unfinished series, this one is a stand alone! *gasps in shock* 😯

I don't like to know much about a book before diving into it. I tend to read the blurb, add it to my TBR and completely forget the details between then and the moment I finally start reading.
From what I gather, This Wicked Deep tells the story of three long-dead witches who, as a result of a curse, come back to life every Summer to hunt, seduce and drown young men so, obviously, I'm all the way in!
😍

Random Question of the Week:
Series or stand-alones, which do you prefer?

I'm so glad you asked! 🤗
As I've mentioned above, and countless times before, I have an aversion to unfinished series so I tend to read a lot of stand-alones. It doesn't mean I don't enjoy series, which I absolutely do, it's just that I don't yet possess the required mental capacity to wait between releases.
I'm very forgetful, the more books I read the less details I remember from the ones I read before no matter how much I enjoyed them, but I also take issue with re-reading books - it feels like I'm waisting time, but more on that later... - so ultimately I prefer to wait 78 years and 2 wars for the series to be completed before I allow myself to plunge into it! (Do you understand my logic? Because I sure don't! 🙈)
In conclusion, it doesn't matter to me if it's a series or stand-alone, the story is always the most important part. I'll read anything, just as long as the content speaks to me.

Six for Sunday | Favourite Books of 2018

Six for Sunday @ A Little But a Lot

Six for Sunday is a weekly meme hosted by Steph at A Little But a Lot

Share 6 books on your social media which meet the theme of the week under the tag #SixForSunday.

2018 has been a fortunate reading year so far, plenty of 4 and 5 star books. I must say it is rather unusual, I'm somewhat known for being overly critical most of the time and, now and then, to take serious issue with the most feeble of details... (Mind you, I'm not proud of that fact. It's just happens to be who I am, for better or worse!)
Either I've lowered my standards considerably since the beginning of the year or, and I sincerely hope it is the case here, I've been making better choices!

Either way, listed bellow are 6 of my favourite 2018 reads so far - in reading order.

172 Hours on the Moon by Johan Harstad
172 Hours on the Moon by Johan Harstad | The Bees by Laline Paul | Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell | Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu
The Counterfeit Family Tree of Vee Crawford-Wong by L. Tam Holland | Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman

Let me know what are your 6 favourite books of 2018!

    Hello!

    Welcome to Bookish Quest!
    Thank you for stopping by.

My name is Lia and I like to talk about books.

    Please note:
    - This is a spoiler free zone unless stated otherwise at the beginning of the post.

    - Most of the time I don't have it in me to write long and sophisticated reviews. Expect to find a lot of stream of consciousness mini ramblings with a Goodreads synopsis because I like them and I'm busy.

    - English is not my native language. I try my best to be eloquent but sometimes (all the time) I make mistakes.

    - I enjoy all sorts of books so be prepared to be *astonished*!
